Get ready for a live concert experience like no other at the upcoming Konsert Wings 30 Tahun at Stadium Merdeka on Oct 31.

The day-long event will not have only feature the iconic Malaysian rock band, but also a total of 87 other Malaysian artistes and musicians who will come together to pay tribute to Wings in conjunction with its 30th anniversary.

A star-studded lineup of local entertainers is also scheduled to give a special tribute segment before the band takes the stage, including Malaysian rock queen Ella, veteran artistes Datuk Hattan and Datuk M. Nasir, comedian Saiful Apek, and many more.

During a press conference at Swiss Garden Residences, Kuala Lumpur, Wings lead vocalist Awie called the past 30 years a real “rock and roll journey”, and he is proud that the band has lasted so long. “I am proud that Wings has never broken up. Members have left and we have separated, but Wings has never broken up officially,” he said.

Formed in 1985, Wings currently consists of Awie (real name Ahmad Azhar bim Othman), 46, guitarist Joe (Abdul Zamin bin Abdul Kadir), 44, drummer Black (Azmi bin Hashim), 47, and bassist Eddie (Samsaidi bin Ulong Idris), 45.

The band has released 17 albums in total, which have included some of the most iconic Malay songs of all time, such as Sejati, Misteri Mimpi Syakilla, Taman Rashidah Utama, Opera Hidup, and Bernafas Dalam Lumpur.

The upcoming event kicks off at 2pm with a special performance by 12 up-and-coming indie bands, which will be playing their own interpretations of classic Wings songs.

The band itself will take the stage at 9pm and play on till midnight. Besides the current lineup, past members of the band will also be making special guest appearances.
