Furious 7 director James Wan is reportedly close to closing a deal with Sony Pictures to direct its next blockbuster, Robotech.
Wan, whose star has been on the rise lately, is in early discussions with Sony Pictures to direct Robotech, the feature adaptation of the 1980s anime series, according to Deadline.
Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton are producing the project, which takes us forward to a time on Earth when technology found on an alien spacecraft must be used by mankind to fend off a series of alien attacks.
Wan’s latest directorial offering – Furious 7, starring Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker – has grossed US$1.3bil (RM4.55bil) so far in the worldwide box office, and he is also apparently wanted for other projects including DC Comics’ Aquaman and the next instalment in the Furious franchise. – AFP Relaxnews
