Taiwanese-Korean popstar Bii will be performing at Stadium Negara next Saturday.

There is only one more week to Bii-day in Malaysia! We’re referring, of course, to the Taiwanese-Korean entertainer’s first ever concert in Malaysia at Stadium Negara next weekend.

During a promotional tour in January to promote his third and latest solo album Action Bii, the Taiwan-based pop sensation revealed that the Kuala Lumpur leg of his concert tour would be the first overseas stop of his solo concert tour.

The boyish singer admitted he was initially surprised when told of the company’s intentions to organise a concert for him, but quickly started to channel his excitement into music arrangement and dance choreography for his biggest stage show yet.

Action Bii, distributed by Universal Music Malaysia, sees the baby-faced singer contributing music and/or lyrics for half of the songs in the 10-track release.

“This album is quite different from Come Back To Bii as it shows a more playful and mischievous side. Hopefully, my next release will be a fully self-composed album,” he said.

Having sported several different looks in the album, which highlighted the fashionista in him, Bii shared that he had a lot of fun during the music video production and photoshoots that took place in France and England.

Title track Action Go! is an upbeat pop rock track with lyrics in Mandarin, English, Korean and Taiwanese Hokkien, that comes with a quirky music video that is a lively departure from his usual romantic ballads and has already notched up 1.3 million views on YouTube.

Bii, 25, whose Korean name is Pil Seo Jin, is better known to his fans by his Mandarin name Bi Shu Jin. His stage name Bii stands for “Be I, I”, referring to his identity as a half-Taiwanese, half-Korean individual.

Bii was born in Seoul, South Korea to a Korean mother and Taiwanese father who worked in China. The singer grew up in South Korea but held a Taiwanese citizenship, so he served his mandatory military service in Taiwan (between November 2011 and November 2012).

When Bii made his debut as a singer in 2010 with a self-titled album, his first overseas stop during his promotional tour was also Malaysia. So it’s no surprise that he chose to stage his first concert here. He still has fond memories of Malaysia and the extraordinarily supportive fanbase here.

For the concert, Bii revealed that he had invited his label-mates – Malaysia’s Andrew Tan, and Taiwan’s Ian Chen and Dino Lee – as guest performers. Together, the foursome are known as the Four Knights Of Eagle Music, and have released several collaborative tracks.

Also making an appearance would be Eagle Music’s new band Lao Ding, as well as sassy songstress Miu Chu, winner of reality singing competition Taiwan Super Idol Season 3.

Last month, Bii and his fellow “Knights” joined more than a dozen other acts from seven countries to wow a 15,000-strong audience as they took to the stage at The 10th KKBOX Music Awards held at the prestigious Taipei Arena, Taiwan.

When we met backstage after his KKBOX performance in Taiwan, Bii said he was really looking forward to his upcoming gig at the 10,000-seat Stadium Negara.

“I hope Malaysian friends will also have a blast when they join me and my fellow Eagle Music label-mates as we enjoy good music together at my first large-scale solo concert at Malaysia’s Stadium Negara. We’ll spring some surprises and bring lots of fun performances, so do come support us and have a merry time at our show.”

Bii My Love Live In Malaysia 2015 will be staged at Stadium Negara on March 21 at 8pm. Concert tickets are priced from RM168 to RM488. The concert is organised by Absolive Entertainment with co-organisers Click Entertainment and The Voice, and presented by Unispace.
