It’s actor Christoph Waltz, by the way.

According to rumours, Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz is in line for a villainous role in Bond 24. The news comes from Baz Bamigboye, writing for The Daily Mail, and has rapidly gathered pace due to Bamigboye's reputation as a trustworthy source when it comes to Bond film details.

“It's not immediately evident whether the part's friend, or foe, or a bit of both,” he wrote, though “someone else on the production let slip that the character Waltz has signed up for is ‘extremely cunning’ and a ‘nemesis of sorts’.”

That nemesis part had at one point been offered to Chiwetel Eijofor, who passed on it, and now appears to be there for Waltz instead.

Austrian actor Waltz has previously been strongly associated with Quentin Tarantino's work, receiving two Academy Awards and two Golden Globes as Best Supporting Actor for his performances in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained.

Though it would be his first time participating in Eon Productions' long-running film franchise, he appeared as a German spy in Goldeneye, a 1989 biopic that starred Charles Dance as Bond author and ex-intelligence officer Ian Fleming. — AFP Relaxnews
