One of the year’s most anticipated films sees several familiar faces prancing around in a dark forest.
Disney has released an extended featurette for Into The Woods that not only offers a new look at the iconic characters, but a sneak preview of the iconic music.
The Witch (Meryl Streep), Cinderella (Anna Kendrick) and a string of characters sing in the video, which also includes interviews with director Rob Marshall, and stars Streep, Johnny Depp (who plays The Wolf), James Corden (The Baker), Emily Blunt (The Baker's Wife), musician/composer Stephen Sondheim and others.
“It's not just a musical, it's not just a comedy, it's not just a drama,” Marshall says. “It's all of those things interwoven.” Marshall also praises Sondheim (“the greatest living composer we have”), who wrote the music and lyrics for the 1987 dark musical reimagining of classic fairytales.
The film hits theatres on Christmas Day in the US, and also stars Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman and Christine Baranski. — Reuters
