To be fair, some of us don’t really like seeing him in romantic comedies, either.
It looks like Bane won’t be a rom-com leading man anytime soon. Tom Hardy told USA Today that his experience filming the big studio romantic comedy This Means War made him averse to the genre.
“I didn’t understand how you could do something which is so much fun and be so miserable doing it,” he told the newspaper about the 2012 movie, where he said he felt like an “other” on set. “I probably won’t do a romantic comedy again, do you know what I mean?“
This Means War, which also starred Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine, was critically panned and flopped Stateside. The US$65mil production only earned US$54.8mil in the US, but did strong business in foreign markets, which raised its worldwide gross to US$156.5mil.
Hardy was promoting his gritty crime drama The Drop with director Michael R. Roskam during the interview. Referring to a future hypothetical rom-com, Roskam playfully asked “So you won’t do mine?”
“With you, it would be different!” Hardy said. — Reuters
