The rapper joins the Bridesmaids star in filmmaker Paul Feig’s latest project.

With Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy already leading Paul Feig’s action comedy Spy, hip-hop mogul 50 Cent is the latest name to join the project’s cast.

Feig, known for his work on Bridesmaids, Nurse Jackie and Freaks And Geeks, both wrote and is to direct Spy, which was previously named after its lead protagonist, Susan Cooper.

McCarthy is in place as Cooper, the CIA analyst who is thrust into a field role; action man Jason Statham has already signed on to play the blundering foil to Jude Law’s smooth, sharp Bond-type.

And while 50 Cent’s character motivations are not known, the emerging actor is to play himself, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Also appearing will be Nia Long of Boyz ‘N The Hood, The Best Man and Third Watch. The production is set to start this month in Budapest, with spring 2015 its target release. — AFP Relaxnews
