Even though it is a good idea to stay offline while on holiday, not everybody can survive a complete digital detox.

This is one of the reasons why travelling overseas with a pocket WiFi is the best way to ensure you do not get interrupted during those peaceful walks in the forest or fun times with the family. With a pocket WiFi, you can choose when to get online and whether to stay connected throughout the whole day or just for a few minutes.

Roaming Man, a travel pocket WiFi service provider that’s available in Malaysia, has just released the Roaming Man G4, and all-in-one travel pocket WiFi device. The G4 works just like an Android device (although you can’t make calls with it): It can be used as a WiFi hotspot as well as a power bank, and comes loaded with a live language translator app and Google Maps.

On top of that, it is also linked to the TripAdvisor app, so that you can easily have access to useful travel tips.

The device has a higher capacity battery life (15 to 18 hours) from the previous model, the U2.

Currently, the G4 is only available for purchase in Malaysia and cannot be rented from Roaming Man. It caters mainly to business travellers, cabin crew and tourists who travel overseas often (every month, for example) and need to constantly stay connected. By owning a G4, customers do not have to worry about device availability or even device pick-up/return services.

All you need to do is to register your device on the Roaming Man website and “recharge” it based on your WiFi needs. The G4 comes in three packages: RM499 (with seven days of free recharge), RM599 (14 days) and RM699 (21 days).

In support of sustainable tourism and environmentally friendly travel options, the company is keen to see more travellers choosing to use pocket WiFi devices instead of buying local SIM cards, which are disposable items. Its “Stay Connected, Stay Green” campaign will see part of the proceeds from the sale and rental of its G4 and U2 devices going to the World Wide Fund for Nature (Malaysia).

Roaming Man’s WiFi coverage extends to 138 countries today. To buy a G4 device, or to rent a U2, head to roamingman.my.
