Many shopping centres now offer an innovative theme park experience.
Central i-City Shopping Centre, Shah Alam, Selangor
Experience a touch of Thailand right here in Malaysia with the newly-opened Central i-City. The shopping mall, themed “new everyday experience” is said to offer the best of both worlds – Thai hospitality and Malaysian friendliness.
This is the first and largest Thai-inspired shopping centre in Shah Alam. It has well-known anchor tenants including a departmental store, a supermarket and a cinema with the largest IMAX hall in Malaysia and the largest Samsung Onyx LED screen in the world.
VAR LIVE, MyTown Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur
Stimulate your senses at VAR LIFE at MyTown Shopping Centre. Said to be the largest Virtual Reality (VR) theme park in Malaysia, it offers 11 immersive VR games with more to come. Themed “Dream With Your Eyes Open”, it enables players to engage in an ultimate audio-visual feast with immersive somatosensory interaction such as vibration platform, guns, wind power system and real scene infrared localisation technology.
R&F Mall, Johor Baru
Take a break at R&F Mall in Johor Baru. It is just an eight-minute walk from the Singapore-Malaysia Customs Immigration Quarantine centre and connected by a fully-sheltered linked bridge. This family-friendly indoor theme park in Berjaya Times Square was inspired by variety game shows like South Korea’s Running Man. The urban theme park offers over 40 interactive games, and is said to be KL’s largest party space. Some of the attractions include a dry pool with colourful crystal plastic balls, human claw machine and rain biking. There is also Crazy Karts, a 360° drift kart as well as the Rage Room where you can unleash your anger by banging on glass and throwing things around.
AirRider Indoor Skydiving, 1Utama Shopping Centre
Go on a simulated indoor skydiving experience at AirRider. Said to to be the first indoor skydiving facility in a shopping mall in the Asia Pacific, it simulates an actual skydive at over 4,200m. There are internationally trained instructors to assist too.
The Rift, Mid Valley Megamall, KL
This hybrid VR/AR adventure park offers over a dozen attractions including Zero Latency, Terminator X, Hurricane VR and Motion Blaster. Visitors can play all kinds of augmented reality games which are combined with physical activity.
FlowRider, 1Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya
Try Malaysia’s first flowboarding facility inside a shopping mall. This hybrid boardsport combines elements of several boardsports such as wakeboarding, surfing and snowboarding. The wave machine makes riders feel as if you’re riding the waves in the ocean. Boards are provided for the sessions and there are professional instructors on hand to teach you.
SuperPark Malaysia, Avenue K, KL
An all-in-one indoor activity park from Finland, SuperPark Malaysia offers hours of fun for children of all ages, and adults.
The park offers 25 fun activities such as ice skating, pedal car track, trampoline platforms, augmented climbing walls, giant slides and more. It is divided into three themed areas: Adventure Area, Game Arena and Freestyle Hall.
