Hello Kitty is turning 45 and to mark the fact she doesn’t look a day over, well, the day she was born, she’s celebrating this milestone with a year-long party at her dedicated theme park in Japan.
Sanrio Puroland, better known as Hello Kitty Land Tokyo, and its sister park Harmonyland, will celebrate her birthday until the end of 2019. Throughout the year, Hello Kitty Land Tokyo will hold a series of special activities to mark the occasion.
Sanrio Entertainment sales department representative Kentaro Kawai said the longevity of Hello Kitty is possible because of the fans.
“Hello Kitty has been spreading joy for 45 years amongst an ever increasing fan base covering all age groups. We are grateful to all fans and visitors and want them to have a wonderful and uplifting experience at Sanrio Puroland,” he said.
Those who travel to the park in the early morning can meet Hello Kitty at Lady Kitty House. Special anniversary rosettes, designed in 45 popular historical Hello Kitty styles from 1947 to 2017, are available to visitors.
The park is also launching a new illumination shows predominantly featuring shades of pink. In addition to that, many characters will be dressed in strawberry costumes.
Visitors should look out for the many beautiful anniversary photo spots at the park. Some standouts include a strawberry carriage fully decorated with presents for Hello Kitty, a balcony on a tower draped with ribbons and a big piece of strawberry sponge cake with My Melody.
At the Puroland Lady Kitty House photo studio, visitors will be able to have their pictures taken with Hello Kitty wearing her special 45th anniversary dress which is covered in flower petals.
