Lewis Hamilton has been well and truly bitten by the fashion bug. The Formula One world champion driver has been working on an eyewear collection with accessories brand Police.
The move follows the announcement that the brand has signed a new sponsorship deal with Hamilton’s Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport team that will see the race team sport its sunglasses and optical frames, as well as the addition of the label’s logo to the team’s helmets.
“Our determination to work with Lewis as both a brand ambassador and designer presented a unique opportunity to join Police to the sports world once again, and we are proud to be partnering with the strongest team in one of the most popular sports in the world,” said Massimo De Rigo, executive vice president of the Police parent company De Rigo Group, in a statement.
The eyewear line, which, according to WWD, will launch in September following a preview in July, is the latest string to Hamilton’s fashionable bow.
The athlete was snapped up by the luxury label Tommy Hilfiger last year to act as a menswear ambassador for the brand, working with the company on a Tommy x Lewis Autumn 2018 capsule ready-to-wear collection.
Prior to that, the sportsman had also starred in Hugo Boss’ Autumn/Winter 2017 campaign, alongside actor James Marsden. – AFP Relaxnews
