Who could resist an exclusive invitation from jewellers DeGem and Lazare Diamonds for an afternoon par-tea at The Gallery located at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur? Tai-tais, jewellery lovers and diamond fans turned up in full force for this elegant event which was held on a Saturday afternoon.

Stephen Choong, chief executive director of DeGem was there to welcome guests and charm them with his in-depth knowledge of gemstones as was Laura Chow, the regional director and vice-president of Lazare Kaplan, who flew in specially from Hong Kong to co-host this event.

Lazare Diamonds is renowned for its mathematically formulated ideal cut which ensure the maximum brilliance, fire and sparkle in a polished diamond. Founded in 1903, Lazare Kaplan International adhere to the strictest standards when it comes to their diamonds earning them the reputation as the world’s most beautiful diamonds.

After a serving of delicious sandwiches, scones and cakes, one of the highlights of the afternoon was a cheque presentation from DeGem to the Breast Cancer Foundation of Malaysia represented by the CEO of the foundation, Surayati Kamzah.

A total of RM45,000 was raised for this worthwhile cause whereby DeGem pledged RM50 for every RM5,000 purchase of Lazare Diamonds from all their boutiques. This “Wing Of Hope” corporate social responsibility campaign was a collaboration between DeGem and Lazare since September 2018 and the money raised goes toward establishing a resource centre at a local hospital.

As a token of appreciation, Lazare Kaplan also donated a limited edition “Wing Of Hope” diamond pendant cum brooch worth RM40,000 to a lucky customer – Chan Mei Ling – who purchased Lazare Diamond jewellery during the campaign period.

The second highlight of the day was a jewellery show where models sashayed around the tables showing the latest Lazare collections – Lazare Trish Collection designed by DeGem as well as Lazare Diamond’s own collection called “The Light Of My Life.”

With the theme of love and expressions dominating the design of the collection, it was no wonder that all the guests in attendance felt the universal feeling and left with sparkles in their eyes, if not on their fingers, wrists and around their necks!
