With a theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”, the 2018 Metropolitan Museum Of Art Costume Institute Gala (Met Gala) saw some of the most statement outfits on the red carpet.
Here’s a look at some of the boldest outfits of the night.
Wearing: Maison Margiela
Rihanna brought her A-game to the night’s theme. She dressed up as the Pope for the gala – yes, the Pope! Her outfit came with a full bishop’s mitre and a heavily embellished cloak.
Zendaya “suited up” for the Met Gala. She paid homage to Joan of Arc with a chain-mail gown that projected a sense of strong femininity. The boyish hairdo was a perfect complement.
Who: Jared Leto
Jared Leto channelled Jesus Christ by pairing his suit with a floral brocade stole, as well as a golden crown. His elaborate getup included a baby blue suit that looked simply dreamy.
Who: Janelle Monae
Wearing: March Jacobs
With an intricately-beaded head wrap and a dramatic, wide-brim hat, Janelle Monae drew all eyes on the red carpet. Her monochrome suit dress was just the right amount of edgy too.
Who: Katy Perry
Katy Perry dressed up as an angel with gigantic feathered wings on her back. She discarded with any angelic notion though, with matching gold thigh-high boots and a skin-tight dress.
