Gorgeous American fashion model Ashley Graham has landed a beauty contract! As one of four new Global Ambassadors for Revlon, Graham may be the only plus-size woman to ever sign a cosmetics deal.
Graham, 30, has appeared on countless runways, magazine covers and talk shows. She also has her own swimwear line. And she’s known for her work as a body image activist, speaking at schools about body acceptance and giving a TED talk on body positive attitudes.
Graham posted the announcement on Instagram (@theashleygraham) telling followers: “Guess who just got a beauty contract?! This girl! So thrilled to join the @Revlon family as we continue to show #BeautyBeyondsize. Follow @Revlon to find out more about our #LiveBoldly campaign. #Revlon”
“Historically, curvy girls are not given beauty contracts,” Graham told WWD. “It’s kind of groundbreaking, because in my generation of models, this hasn’t happened yet. This is one of those moments where I’m over the moon, I cried a little.”
Revlon just launched their new Live Boldly campaign in New York, introducing the new Global Ambassadors to join actress Gal Gadot. Graham, Adwoa Aboah, Imaan Hammam and Raquel Zimmermann were chosen to represent the campaign as they embody what it is to “Live Boldly”.
Revlon stated: “As a top model and advocate, Graham has used her celebrity and voice to challenge conventional perceptions and inspire women everywhere. Her optimism, compassion and strength have changed the industry’s perspective by creating a more inclusive definition of beauty.”
“I am thrilled to be part of this timely and groundbreaking campaign with different types of women across races, ages and sizes, and to leverage this platform to continue to create positive change,” says Graham. “To ‘Live Boldly’ is the mantra of my life. Every day in the mirror I say to myself, ‘I am bold, I am brilliant, I am beautiful,’ and together with Revlon, we can inspire all women to do the same.”
