While her son has been busy exploring ways to send people to space she has been busy being courted by CoverGirl, and this news has sent us – and her son – over the moon.
Maye Musk, the beautiful mother of American billionaire, investor and inventor Elon Musk, has just landed a beauty contract with CoverGirl and Olay.
Maye, a Canadian born American is a dietitian and nutritionist with two master’s degrees and she is also a model.
She has been modelling for over five decades, appearing on the covers of reputable publications.
Last year she signed with IMG Worldwide and she appeared in Beyonce’s music video Haunted in 2013.
At 69, she is CoverGirl’s oldest spokesmodel and the global beauty brand has to be credited for their all inclusive advertising direction.
In their strategic steps in embracing diversity CoverGirl has also signed makeup artist James Charles as their first cover boy and Nura Afia as their first hijab-wearing ambassador.
When she was offered the role as CoverGirl’s newest ambassador, Maye told New York Times, “I just love that CoverGirl wants to do diversity. They haven’t had a model this old in their campaigns. I’m turning 70 in April of next year. I think that women will be really inspired to see that even at 69 you can get a beauty campaign.
“Ageing has been good for me. You develop confidence, you’re able to handle the knocks a little easier. I model for my age. I’m not trying to hide it and say I’m 50. I’m so proud that I’m going be 70,” she added.
In her Instagram post Maye says, “Thank you CoverGirl, for including me in your tribe of diversity. Who knew, after many years of admiring the gorgeous CoverGirl models, that I would be one at 69 years of age? It just shows, never give up.”
On the announcement CoverGirl posted these comments on their Instagram, “Um, can we talk about Life Goals?
