Last week, we choose key pieces for the Autumn/Winter 2017 season. This week, we take a look at the key trends, and our focus is on the strong silhouette.
You can base an entire look on this silhouette alone or apply it to your accessories. And this is one of the easier ones to play around with.
Just make sure to go either or, and if your outfit is the centerpiece, tone down the accessories, or vice versa. But there’s nothing to say you can’t do a full-on look either!
As long as you think bold, striking and standout pieces, you’ll have this trend down pat.

Just answer this question: What sort of bags are a hit at the moment?
Check out constructed folds, boxy shoulders and voluminous layering. Elements of a fuller form are definitely having a moment in fashion, and have now become the building blocks of stylish everyday wear.
Think of it as architecture for the body. Where reinvention is concerned, classic designs are being made new with the addition of forward elements such as laser cutouts, or stiff materials like neoprene.
Runways have been awash with lavish silhouettes too. That floral circle skirt dress you have been eyeing? Pair it with a bomber jacket, and you will have a knockout look that is aesthetically balanced.
It is the same reason that jumpsuits are so popular. A soft, feminine one will hug the body, yet afford the right camouflage by means of loose folds. Just drape an oversize jacket over it and you are good to go.
The same idea applies to accessories. Structured bags are a hit at the moment. Add a chic one to your outfit and you will immediately look polished. Of course, you need to carry it with the right attitude.
Doesn’t matter if it is a cross-body, shoulder mini or hold-everything. Each different one will work. Just pick the design that works best for you – and the lifestyle you are living.
The statement-making silhouette is a micro trend that works for jewellery as well. Bold, geometric designs for example, are an easy way to stand out when you are piling on the bling.
From necklaces to bracelets, pick out pieces that speak to you, or are an art by itself. And you can never have too many bold rings!
Heels, on the other hand, can appear whimsically creative with addition of embellishments like feathers and fur. They give footwear a sense of a dreamy feel, while upping its style ante.
