Time and again we have been told that fast cars and quality watches go together. Well, true enough. Just look at the Bell & Ross RS17 trilogy of watches that combine performance, speed and mechanical accuracy.
Bell & Ross’ partnership with Renault Sport Formula One certainly worked well in bringing the two worlds together. The watches pair the latest horological advances with innovative materials used in motor racing.
Unveiled in London last month is the BR03-94 RS17. It features a ceramic case manufactured to withstand shock and sporty carbon fibre dial, as well as design motifs that bring to mind the steering wheel of Renault’s Formula One car.
The model also happens to carry chronograph information with yellow anodised aluminium markings. This choice is significant, as the Renault team have been using the colour since they first entered Formula 1.
Inside the case is calibre BR-CAL.301 – an automatic chronograph movement, based on the 2894 architecture. The Bell & Ross BR03-94 RS17 is water resistant to 100m as well.
This is not the first collection created with Renault Sport Formula One though. Announced last year, the partnership was seen as a move by Bell & Ross to expand beyond the focus on military and aviation timepieces.
According to the CEO of Bell & Ross Carlos A. Rosillo, the two companies share a common goal of pushing the limits. He states that the partnership symbolises the result of precision and speed coming together.
“This is extremely important for our brand this year. We have embarked upon an exciting journey with Renault Sport Formula One Team, and 2017 will be no different,” Rosillo adds.
When it comes to the other two RS17 models, they share the same liveries but with varied specifications. The BR-X1 RS17 for example, is revealed to have a skeletonised dial with an X-shaped upper bridge.
The full collection (which also includes the BR-X1 RS17 Tourbillon watch) will only be launched at the Baselworld 2017 watch and jewellery tradeshow, scheduled to take place today in Switzerland.
