A new beauty “season” is upon us, and if there’s one major makeup trend we’re digging this September, it’s the bold lip.

Strong pouts are everywhere at the moment – they ruled the Autumn/Winter 2015 catwalks and they’re being championed by style icons from Kylie Jenner, who is set to launch her own “lip kit” later this year, to Christian Louboutin, who set the beauty world alight when he announced plans to apply his signature, fearless red to a line of luxury lipsticks for the fall.

A bold pout in an off-key colour is the style trick that will see you through the winter. Think violets, orange-hued reds and bright pinks. Giorgio Armani Prive’s Autumn/Winter 2015 Shocking haute couture show in Paris focused on punkish and unapologetic pink in the house’s new Ecstasy Lacquer lipstick in Maharajah – a strong, feminine, uncompromising shade.

The range is currently available to buy online, with additional hues including classic reds and chocolate burgundies similar to the colour seen on the Roksanda catwalk.

Another quirky colour comes in the form of the new limited edition Pure Color Envy Matte Sculpting Lipstick by Kendall Jenner for Estee Lauder, which comes in a vibrant matte red-tangerine hue for a retro 1970s vibe.

The French beauty house has also just released its first collaboration with Puerto Rican model Joan Smalls, a 12-colour collection of Pure Color Envy Matte Sculpting Lipsticks in showstopping hues with names like Furious, Volatile and Irrepressible.

The star colour is Commanding, a deep burgundy that Smalls’ Instagram followers helped her to name.

Goth makeup was also referenced on the Autumn/Winter 2015 catwalks, particularly at Giles, where models rocked a matte black pout. Try Illamasqua’s lipstick in the shade Pristine to recreate the look at home. – AFP Relaxnews
