In 2013, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) was conceptualised for Malaysian designers to showcase their ready-to-wear collections and highlight the creativity of homegrown talents. Last year, it brought more than 100,000 people together at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur to witness Malaysian couturiers at their best.

From Aug 12 to 16, KLFW will present an eclectic mix of designers in the Malaysian capital over five days. More than 80 designers will be showcasing their never-seen-before runway collections; notable names include Khoon Hooi, Variante (by Leslie Variyan), Eclipse (by Sonny San), Jonathan Liang, Freedom (by Eric Choong) and K.Alif (by Kem Salleh).

“We are proud to welcome back a great numbers of designers this season as well as to be an important platform to a growing number of new designers,” says Andrew Tan, KLFW founder. “The amount of designers showing for the first time is a great testament of the attention KLFW is receiving on a national and international level.”

Working closely with Tourism Malaysia, KLFW has invited five guest fashion designers from China, Britain, Australia, Singapore and Indonesia to facilitate a creative bi-lateral dialogue between local and international designers.

Turkish fashion designer Songul Cabaci will also be making an appearance, courtesy of the Turkish Embassy.
