Actor Saharul Ridzwan recalls a devastating moment that took place one morning on Hari Raya.

About four or five years ago, Saharul’s grandmother suffered a stroke which left her paralysed on the first day of the festivities. “We were saddened by what happened. Now that I’m older, the only way I can pay back is to take care of her,” says Saharul, 27.

The Kau Aku Kita star, who took home Best Actor at the Anugerah Pilihan Online earlier this year, will be spending this Hari Raya in Kelantan and Kuala Lumpur.

The actor, who is rumoured to be tying the knot soon, remains tight-lipped on whether this will be his last Hari Raya as a bachelor. “It’s hard to say, plans for my wedding could happen this year, or the next or in three years time,” Saharul teases.

Asked if he thinks being married will have an effect on his career, Saharul responds: “If I were afraid of losing fans, I think I would’ve felt afraid even from the first day I started out as an actor. In these four years, I’ve slowly built up my career and people can see that from my dramas. If I put out something that’s strong for viewers to see, they will be interested in that.”
