The 2015 Cannes Film Festival kicks off this Wednesday and already there is a long list of top celebrities who are set to make red carpet appearances.
Also headed to the festival is Malaysia Airlines business analyst Jamie Tan, 30, who is set to take part in a global makeup designer competition after winning The Brush Contest Malaysia by L’Oreal.
The contest was launched on YouTube in January. It was held simultaneously in 12 countries including France, the United States, Britain and Malaysia, and open to all amateur, professional and potential makeup artists to.
Over 100 entries were received from across the country, where makeup and beauty enthusiasts sent in their interpretation of the theme, “Color Clash”. Fifty of the best videos were revealed for public voting, and the top 10 shortlisted make-up aficionados went on to secure a place in the national finals, as well as to attend a “makeup designer bootcamp” conducted by L’Oréal Paris Malaysia.
The grand prize winner of the competition in Cannes will walk away with a professional one-year contract with the L’Oréal Paris Makeup Designer team worth RM400,000 (€100,000).
Tan’s winning look for The Brush Contest Malaysia featured a combination of sweet pink and blue blended into purple hue, further accentuated with navy blue eyeliner to open up the eyes.
“As unbelievable as it seems, it has been an amazing experience. From shooting the video at home, submitting it on YouTube and being selected as the Top 10 finalists, to participating in the bootcamp and getting selected as the winner. It makes me so happy knowing the time spent doing makeup on myself and my friends has paid off,” said Tan in a press release provided by L’Oréal Paris Malaysia.
Filmed from May 17-20 in Cannes, the competition will then be played out in a series of episodes broadcast on the L’Oreal Paris YouTube channel from June 10, with the final winner revealed on June 18.
Hosted by actress Eva Longoria, the grand final will see the competitors work with models and celebrities like Doutzen Kroes, Karlie Kloss, Barbara Palvin, Soo-Joo Park and Lara Stone.
Best of luck to Jamie Tan!
