Plaza Low Yat opened its doors to the public in 1999 and has established itself as one of the forerunners in the retail industry.
Strategically located within the Bukit Bintang shopping belt right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, Plaza Low Yat has progressively fashioned itself into what it is now – the IT hub of the nation.
Receiving the accolade of Malaysia’s largest IT lifestyle mall in 2009, Plaza Low Yat is a mall with over 28,800 sq m (310,000 sq ft) of prime retail space, occupied by more than 400 outlets.
It not only provides shoppers a wide range of IT-related products and services – with active plans to expand through an interconnected lifestyle concept with Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Capitol Hotel and BB Park – it offers a variety of F&B and wellness options, while establishing itself as an active contributor to the development of KL.
It hosts various events such as the annual Latin American Festival, mega IT fairs, outdoor concerts and many more, attracting visitors from all over the world.
“Our journey has been a transformative one,” shared Low Yat Group executive director Low Gee Teong. “Twenty years ago, we had our humble beginning as a lifestyle mall. Today, we have become an iconic presence in the locale.
“We have planned and developed connecting projects that have kept the occupancy and value of its surrounding areas stable over the two decades.”
He added, “In the digitally forward retail space, Plaza Low Yat has to find a way to innovatively merge brick and click. We want to make the shopping experience wholesome for our shoppers, so that convenience is available to all while allowing our tenants to reach a wider audience.”
In conjunction with the mall’s 20th anniversary on Aug 24, there will be a series of happenings and promotions to reward its followers and shoppers.
Indoor activities include Grab N’ Go, in which participants stand a chance to take home IT products and gadgets that they manage to “grab” for free; Hot Deals, a two-part segment featuring IT products at a substantial price reduction; and Grand Prize Draw, which gives shoppers an opportunity to win a Proton Iriz.
Shoppers are also entitled to redeem the 20th anniversary limited edition Premium Gift Box with minimum spending at participating outlets.
To further commemorate the anniversary, there will be an outdoor stage performance by Ayda Jebat, Khai Bahar, Namewee and Priscilla Abby. At the same time, Plaza Low Yat will be selecting the mall’s official brand ambassador at the final round of the Plaza Low Yat IT Girl Search.
Last but not least, an auction segment – Going Once, Going Twice – and a carnival bazaar will happen at the Boulevard Strip. And as a gesture of appreciation, shoppers will get to enjoy free parking for the first hour from Aug 1-31 throughout the celebration month.
“We are excited to announce the launch of our Plaza Low Yat mobile app, which will revitalise the merchants’ business and breathe a digital new life into the shopping experience of our shoppers,” shared Low.
“This app will allow us to improve the connectivity of our shoppers, letting them further enjoy deals and promotions that can never be found out of this mall.”
He added, “In the coming year, we are planning for an eSports hub within Plaza Low Yat, considering the rising popularity in Malaysia.
“Smart parking, service appointments, extended warranty programmes, and mobile ewallet are also in the pipeline. The mobile app will integrate all these elements to allow our shoppers embark on a shopping experience that is convenient and interactive.”
In conjunction with its 20th anniversary, Plaza Low Yat will extend its business hours from 10am-midnight. Everyone is welcomed to join the fun and excitement in celebrating 20 remarkable years that had made Plaza Low Yat the talk of the town when it comes to digital sophistication and technology trends.
