Durian may be considered the King of Fruits in this country but not all Malaysians enjoy it, largely due to its “unique” aroma. But these people often have a change of heart and relish the taste of the fruit when it is cooked into dishes and baked into snacks.
Makan Kitchen, the signature restaurant of DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur, proves that in a video of a taste test to promote the durian-inspired items on offer at its weekend hi-tea. It may not be the most original idea, but we think it’s cleverly done and gets the point across.
Besides Makan Kitchen, a couple of other restaurants are also offering limited edition eats to celebrate National Day, which get our nod for hitting the right spots and reflecting Malaysian pride.
Shiok your senses with not one, but five, durian delights – on top of 60 other items – at this weekend hi-tea. Of all things, there is nasi goreng durian – never tried before, right? – topped with (lagi shiok) durian-flavoured chicken satay. We are just getting started … now start popping the crispy durian fritters, kek lapis durian, and durian cheese apam. Du..du.. run there before the du..rian du..lights are depleted. And dun forget, lucky ducky prizes await; terms apply. Du you geddit, dude?
