Kuala Lumpur’s biggest whisky and spirits tasting event, WhiskyPLUS 2019, is returning for a second year this Saturday (June 15), at the Pavilion Hotel by Banyan Tree, and promises to be one of Malaysia’s best spirits-related events.
More than 50 brands from many of Malaysia’s top spirits importers, distributors, and wholesalers confirmed to be there. Among them are well-known single malts such as The Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Bruichladdich and Glenfarclas, blended whisky giants Chivas Regal and Dewars, as well as other iconic names like The Dalmore, Kilchoman, Auchentoshen, Nikka, Jura, Yamazakua, Old Pulteney, and Glendalough.
Five highly-rated independent whisky bottlers will also be making their presence felt, including Malaysia’s very own Eiling Lim, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, That Boutique-y Whisky Company, The Single Cask and Douglas Laing.
There will also be a selection of spirits from Japan, Ireland, Taiwan, India, Thailand and Italy, as well as non-whisky brands, including rums like Diplomatico, Plantation and Phraya, and gins like Agricolo, Caorunn, Iron Balls and The Botanist.
For true whisky connoisseurs, don’t miss the popular Collector’s Corner, which offers a special selection of exceptional purchase-by-the-dram old and rare whiskies, some of which are truly one-of-a-kind offerings.
The one-day event comprises two sessions – 12 to 4pm and 5 to 10pm. While both sessions will largely be similar, there may be differences in what’s offered by exhibitors for each one.
To ensure a more enjoyable experience for everyone, WhiskyPLUS is capacity-controlled and tickets for each session are limited.
Tickets are available for either Standard or VIP entry for each of the two sessions. All ticketed guests will receive entry to the main tasting floor, with unlimited sampling of a range of blended and single malt whiskies from around the world, complemented by a few other premium spirits, as well.
Besides the main tasting room, WhiskyPLUS will also have various features and activities throughout the day, including masterclasses and pop-up bars, and a VIP Lounge.
Guests will also receive a commemorative whisky glass and a set meal box to enjoy with the whisky tasting. VIP pass holders will receive additional privileges and goodies.
Ticket prices range from RM150 to RM328. Online ticketing is scheduled to close on Wednesday (June 12), with very limited passes available at the door.
