Sake has been enjoying a bit of a resurgence in Malaysia of late, with the Japanese rice wine gaining more mainstream acceptance outside of Japanese restaurants. It’s not just the mainstream sake brands that are gaining prominence here, there are also more and more small craft sakes available in the market.
With that in mind, Nomi Tomo Sake House, a Malaysian distributor of craft sake, is organising the first ever Sake Festival Malaysia, with the aim of raising the awareness and appreciation towards the beverage in the Malaysian market.
The event will be held from 4pm-11pm on Oct 13 (Saturday) at The Gasket Alley (Lot 15, Jalan 13/6, Section 13, Petaling Jaya, Selangor).
Activities include sake tasting stations manned by some of the sake producers themselves, as well as sake appreciation sessions conducted by certified sake sommeliers, who will impart their knowledge and expertise on how sake is made, sampling of different variants and basic pairings with food.
Tickets are priced at RM100 nett, which includes RM100 worth of credits, a Sake Festival ISO Tasting Glass, three sake sampling portions, a Sake Festival bag and a sake information booklet.
