Is your pet a stargazer? Does it have that twinkle in its eyes whenever you mention rockets, NASA or the Mars rover? Well, now you can fulfil your pet's wish to be immortalised among the heavenly bodies.

Celestis Inc, a Texas company which has provided memorial space flights for human remains since 1997, is now offering a truly out-of-this-world send-off for well-loved pets by placing a portion of their cremated remains in a capsule and blasting them off into space.

The company plans to launch its inaugural commercial pet memorial spaceflight in October 2014 with the remains of a blue merle Australian shepherd named Apollo, the company said. Oh Apollo, you lucky dog, you definitely get a much better deal than poor Laika, the first animal that ever went up into space.
