Want to catch up on Disney XD’s animated series Star Wars Rebels before its second season arrives on June 20?

Here are some of the episodes you need to watch first.

Spark Of Rebellion (2014)

The 60-minute season premiere had the highest US viewership of all Star Wars Rebels episodes to date, introducing teenage scammer and series protagonist Ezra Bridger as well as the five crew members of the spaceship Ghost that rescue him from Imperial punishment plus enemies Agent Kallus (David Oyelowo) and The Inquisitor (Jason Isaacs).

Franchise icons Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader also make appearances.

Droids In Disguise (S1E1)

Designed to provide some immediately recognisable figures as a convenient entry point to the series, as gold-coloured robot C-3PO and tri-wheeled chum R2-D2 are accidentally pilfered by our protagonist smugglers, leading to a meeting with Princess Leia’s father, Bail Organa of Star Wars Episode II Attack Of The Clones and Star Wars Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith.

Rise Of The Old Masters (S1E3)

Two major events punctuate this early season episode – the Ghost’s rebel crew run up against powerful foe The Inquisitor, narrowly escaping capture after falling for a cunning trap, while Ezra enters a new phase of his training on the path to becoming a true Jedi under the tutelage of Ghost captain Kanan.

Path Of The Jedi (S1E8)

A mid-season celebrity lift arrives in the form of diminutive Jedi Council member Yoda, who participates in Ezra’s continued training as he learns to negotiate the dark side of the Force.

But neither he, nor Lando Calrissian in next episode Idiot’s Array, could reverse the series’ overall dip in US viewership from one million to nearly half of that.

Fire Across The Galaxy (S1E13)

The series finale has Ezra and his mentor Kana face off against their foe, The Inquisitor, and the scene is set for a Galactic rebellion to take place, with Star Wars: The Clone Wars alumnus Ahsoka Tano revealed as a key player.

She’s expected to return for S2 next month, recruiting Lando, Darth Vader and, in a series debut, Emperor Palpatine for season premiere The Siege Of Lothal. – AFP Relaxnews
