Can a country band give Princess Elsa a run for her money? Can a young pop diva turn a Hercules classic from zero to hero?
We Love Disney, produced by David Foster, is a compilation album featuring some of Disney’s most memorable tunes covered by the day’s biggest artistes.
And the result is surprisingly good. Ariana Grande aka mini Mariah Carey takes on the gospel and soul-tinged Zero To Hero, originally sung by five characters, with ease (unsurprisingly).
Ne-Yo deftly tackles Aladdin’s Friend Like Me, capturing the Genie’s sense of mischief in his performance, and Jessie J’s delivery of The Little Mermaid’s Part Of Your World is heartfelt and powerful.
Meanwhile, Pretty Little Liars star and singer Lucy Hale plus country band Rascal Flatts bring something new to a song sung to death, the empowerment anthem Let It Go. The banjos are a welcomed addition, but their rendition just needs a bit more gusto.
Elsewhere, Tori Kelly no doubt has the vocal chops to pull off Colors Of The Wind from Pocahontas but it lacks just that – colour.
