HBO Asia is producing an original series called Halfworlds and Malaysian actor Bront Palarae is set to star.
Directed by Indonesia’s Joko Anwar the eight-part hour-long series features begins shooting this week. Apart from Bront, the Malaysian actress Puteri Balqis is also set to guest star while other Asian cast members include mostly Indonesian actors like Salvita Decorte, Arifin Putra (The Raid 2), Reza Rahadian (Habibie & Ainun), Aimee Saras (Musical Onrop), Adinia Wirasti (Tentang Dia), Hannah Al-Rashid (Ritual), Tara Basro (Catatan Harian), Alex Abbad (The Raid 2), Ario Bayu (Soekarno) and Verdi Solaiman (The Raid).
Singaporean Nathan Hartono (Musical Spring Awakening) completes the main credit list.
Halfworlds is described as a thriller that explores the themes of love, redemption and betrayal. Set in present day Jakarta, the film centres on a young street artist who finds herself caught in a battle between humans and demons.
