This Hari Raya, actress Ayda Jebat will be one of your festive staples.
On the first day of Hari Raya, listen to Ayda as she voices Tessa Yeager (played by Nicola Peltz) in the Bahasa Malaysia version of Transformers: Age Of Extinction (HBO, Astro Ch 411, 9pm). The bubbly beauty also stars in two high-profile Raya drama spin-offs – M.A.I.D Pun Nak Raya (July 18, Astro Ch 104, 10am) and Rindu Awak 200% Raya (July 22, TV3, 10pm) – alongside Zul Ariffin.
As for her own personal Hari Raya experiences, 23-year-old Ayda said during an interview with Star2.com that she gets asked about her frequent co-star Zul a lot.
“My relatives always ask me when I will bring him home! Apparently, they are more eager to celebrate Hari Raya with him than with me. I have to say ‘I’m sorry, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon!’,” she shared with a laugh.
Outside of TV drama sets, Ayda only considers Zul a close friend.
“We didn’t get to this position of being the stars of highly-rated television shows easily. There were a lot of hard times to overcome. So, we’ve promised to always look out for each other in the industry.”
Her on-screen pairings with Zul often come with bad press, with gossip sites always speculating that the two are more than just friends. Ayda said she prefers to ignore the negativity.
“As long as I know who I am, and my family is not worried, I will be OK. I would rather focus on working hard to prolong my career.”
On that positive note, the Malacca-born actress also shared that she will be bingeing on a lot of nasi himpit with sambal udang and London Almond cookies for Hari Raya.
She hopes her fans have as much fun watching her on television as she did filming the shows.
“I believe they will have a blast watching all the shows. I can’t wait to hear what my relatives will have say this time as well,” she added with a laugh.
