Malaysian-produced science-fiction horror movie, Color Out Of Space, will premiere at the Midnight Madness section of the 44th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), held from September 5 to 15.
Adapted from a legendary short story by American author, H.P. Lovecraft, the movie is produced by ACE Pictures Entertainment LLC (ACE Pictures), a Malaysian film production and investment company, based in Los Angeles.
Color Out of Space is was written and directed by South African filmmaker Richard Stanley, his first feature film after a 20-year break, and stars Nicolas Cage together with Joely Richardson, Tommy Chong, Elliot Knight, Madeleine Arthur, Brendan Meyer, Julian Hillard and Q’Orianka Kilcher.
It revolves around Nathan Gardners (Nicolas Cage) and his family, who busily adapting to a new life when a meteorite crashes on to their front yard. The mysterious aerolite seems to melt into the earth, infecting both the land and the properties of space-time with a strange, otherworldly colour.
ACE Pictures has invested and produced a total of eight Hollywood-projects of different genres, and three of the eight films went into two of the world’s most prestigious film festivals – Clemency won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival; Imaginary Order was officially selected in competition for 2019 Sundance Film Festival; and Daniel Isn’t’ Real was selected to premiere at 2019 SXSW Film Festival.
