Going back to Jitra, Kedah has become second nature to Fikry Ibrahim, seeing that the actor regularly travels back and forth between Kuala Lumpur and Kedah.
Despite his thriving acting career in the capital city, the 25-year-old actor shares he still calls Kedah home.
“I live there. I come here (to KL) only for work. So, if I get more than three consecutive days off shooting, I’ll be back in Jitra.”
He explains why he doesn’t mind travelling back and forth so often: “Although there’s nothing much there, my family is there and that’s enough for me.”
Fikry says returning to Jitra for the upcoming Hari Raya has a different sense of excitement. “If I go back on normal occasions, I don’t get to see my friends because they’re all busy working. But during Hari Raya, my friends are all there. We play futsal and go to the mosque together.”
Fikry, who rose to prominence after starring in 2017’s Hero Seorang Cinderella, also talks about how his Hari Raya celebrations have changed since becoming a celebrity. “One Raya, I was eating with my family at home and all of a sudden, people just started showing up at our doorstep non-stop.
“And I thought, ‘Oh no, we don’t have enough food.’ So we quickly started cooking whatever we had in the kitchen. There were people we know and didn’t know, some of them even came at 10pm. I served all of them.”
The actor, who will star in the upcoming telemovie, Cik Reen Encik Ngok Ngek Raya, adds: “It was fun actually. I was very appreciative because they came just to see me and spend time with me. That was an unforgettable Raya.”
