Malaysian subscription-based video streaming service dimsum has acquired seven new Thai drama series as the result of a deal with Channel 3, a major broadcaster in Thailand.
As the video-on-demand service with the largest Thai content offering in Malaysia, dimsum aims to further promote Thai creativity and culture in Malaysia as part of its Asian content focus.
To this end, dimsum recently hosted a special media preview showcasing traditional Thai cultural activities as part of its month-long Songkran campaign.
The event was graced by Royal Thai Embassy minister counsellor Amnat Phalapleewan and Royal Thai Embassy’s office of commercial affairs minister counsellor Patcha Wutipan.
Together, they conducted workshops on the wearing of Thai costumes, the making of traditional rice craft, and the preparation of Thai desserts such as khanom chor muang (steamed flower dumplings) and khao neeo mamuang (mango sticky rice).
During the event, dimsum chief marketing officer Lam Swee Kim said: “We are pleased to conclude a multi-territory and multi-title deal with Channel 3, acquiring 350 hours of its Thai drama series. Our research shows that there is a growing popularity of Thai content in Malaysia and the region.
“This new partnership will mark a big expansion in dimsum’s Thai library, attracting more subscribers and retaining dimsum’s position as (having) the largest Thai content line-up in this region.”
The following are the seven new Thai titles that will soon be made available on dimsum.
