Two days after the news of her husband Andy Hui’s dalliance with actress Jacqueline Wong broke, Hong Kong pop star Sammi Cheng has finally broken her silence about the affair.
In a statement published on her Instagram account (@sammi_chengsauman), she seemingly forgives Hui for his indiscretions, calling it “an important lesson for our marriage”. The post was accompanied by a Bible verse (1 Corinthians 13:7 NLT), which states “Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance”.
“This lesson is between us husband and wife, and also a lesson for the future of our marriage,” she writes in Chinese. “We will continue deeper into this marriage. Besides the happiness and warmth we have for each other, there will also be our mistakes and mutual forgiveness.”
Known as Hong Kong’s Golden Couple, Cheng, 46, and Hui, 51 have been married since 2014. On Tuesday, Hui confessed at a press conference to a dalliance with 30-year-old TVB actress and former Miss Hong Kong first runner-up Jacqueline Wong, having been caught on camera holding hands and kissing in the backseat of a taxi with Wong.

Cheng has thus far been silent on the scandal, but her Instagram post seems to indicate that she is willing to continue with the marriage.
“The most important thing for us now is to further explore the true meaning of marriage. Happiness is not just a series of smooth and happy moments, but also trials and challenges, as well as high points and low points that will allow the relationship between husband and wife to move forward, and reach for each others’ hearts, face up to our weaknesses,” she writes.
“In a marriage, I believe that experiences and lessons will help us to get back on track, and life will begin anew. During this period, at our most difficult moment together, we held hands and prayed together, and it helped us a lot. Today, the burden on our shoulders seem a lot lighter. I just wish for everything to calm down and be peaceful once more.”
In the post, she also implored the press to stop harassing her parents, and that this was all she had to say about the issue.
“After today, I will only be looking forward, and in time, keep moving forward step by step,” she writes.
