The producers of local horror film Two Sisters really want you to go and watch their movie in local cinemas.
So much so that they are offering a money-back guarantee to local movie lovers who catch it on the film’s opening day, April 18.
During the recent launch of their maiden release Two Sisters, local production house Kuman Pictures announced that they would offering a unprecedented money-back guarantee to local movie lovers who feel dissatisfied with the movie after watching it in cinemas on its opening day.
Founded in 2018 by Amir Muhammad, Kuman Pictures is a Malaysian production house specialising in low-budget horror and thriller films.
At the press conference, Amir said it was important for local movie lovers to catch Two Sisters on its opening day (April 18), and help to spread the word by telling their friends if they liked the movie.
“The money-back guarantee is our ‘gift’ to mark the appearance of Kuman Pictures in the industry. We want to focus on the audience because without the audience, there is no movie,” said the movie’s executive producer Amir, adding that it felt more worthwhile for them to return money to dissatisfied viewers than paying social-media influencers to do reviews.
What this means is that moviegoers can request for a refund of their ticket purchase if they decide that they don’t like the movie after having watched it in one of the 25 cinemas it will be screening at.
This refund is only valid for opening day (April 18) movie tickets, and limited to a maximum of four (4) tickets.
Two Sisters is a psychological horror thriller about dark family secrets that unfold when a pair of estranged siblings get reunited after one of them is released from a mental institution.
Helmed by James Lee (Histeria, Sini Ada Hantu, Tolong! Awek Aku Pontianak), Two Sisters stars actresses Emily Lim (My Sweet Madu) and Lim Mei Fen (Prebet Sapu) as the titular siblings.
The movie is set to make its international premiere in Italy at the Udine Far East Film Festival (April 26-May 4).
Two Sisters opens in local cinemas nationwide on April 18.
