Everything is still very much awesome with Emmet, five years after the events in the first movie. But then it quickly goes down hill when his hometown becomes the focus of Lego Duplo, invaders from outer space, whose speciality is to wreck everything.

So much so, the town of Bricksburg has become Apocalypseburg. Now it is up to Emmet, Lucy and Batman to save their universe.

In order to do that, they must go to “faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical.” Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks and Will Arnett play the three main roles. New voice talents include Tiffany Haddish, Stephanie Beatriz, and Arturo Castro as, new characters Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi, Sweet Mayhem and Ice Cream Cone.

According to collider.com, Pratt has another role in the film – Rex Dangervest, a galaxy-saving archeologist, cowboy, and raptor wrangler.

In that interview, Pratt explained how Emmet’s journey was similar to his own. “I was given the role while on Parks And Recreation. By the time I finished the recording sessions, I was Star Lord.” So expect some self-reflective humour in the film courtesy of Pratt.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part opens on Feb 7.
