Toy Story is one of THE biggest franchises of all time, animated or otherwise, and it’s also one of the few that have managed to stay consistently entertaining, charming, and funny throughout its last three films.
Next June, Toy Story 4 will be looking to continue Pixar’s winning streak with the franchise, and the first teaser trailer has just been released with a synopsis of the movie:
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.
The teaser isn’t much, revealing the whole gang – Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Slinky, Mr and Mrs Potatohead, Hamm, Rex, Alien – holding hands and smiling as the cheery Both Sides Now by Judy Collins plays in the background.
Then, we see the new addition to the cast: Forky (voiced by Tony Hale), who screams “I’M NOT A TOY!” and messes up the whole happy formation. (Sounds like someone’s going to be getting another one of those “what makes a toy” lectures from Woody.)
So far, the Toy Story plots have been pretty much confined to a set location, but bringing them on a road trip sounds like a great idea to give the gang a big send off, as everything points to this being the final Toy Story movie. Heck, even Tim Allen, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, said that recording the voices was “so emotional” that he “couldn’t even get through the last scene”.
Toy Story 4 will be released in June 2019.
