United Studios, a KRU International’s wholly owned international sales and distribution company, will be handling the worldwide sales excluding North America for the Hollywood film Nosferatu.
This was announced at the American Film Market, which is happening now until Nov 7, at Santa Monica, California, United States.
The press statement was shared by Datuk Norman Abdul Halim, the CEO of KRU Studios.
Nosferatu starring Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape Of Water) as the infamous Count Orlok is directed by David Fisher and produced by Zemrak Pirkle Productions and Artistry Media Group.
This film will use 70% of the original footage from the 1921 classic Nosferatu – A Symphony Of Horror as its back plate. The enhancement and digitising process will be handled by Prodigital Lab, a CGI and post-production facility based in Kuala Lumpur, that does CGI work for the KRU Group of Companies.
The statement described Nosferatu as a modern day storytelling feature, while keeping it as close as possible to the original silent movie.
It also quoted Fisher: “The spellbinding imagery of F. W. Murnau’s original Nosferatu still greatly influences today’s horror films. I wanted to revisit this legendary film not only for its cinematic significance, but most importantly to bring a modernised yet faithful homage of its terrifying tale to devoted fans and an entire new generation of film-goers around the world.”
Nosferatu is tentatively scheduled for release in 2019.
