Astro has lined-up loads of Tamil and Hindi programmes in conjunction with Deepavali on its TV channels like Vaanavil and Vellithirai, radio station Raaga, as well as special write-ups on its digital portal Ulagam.
It is also introducing two new channels this month – Colors Tamil HD (Astro Ch 233) and Zee Tamil HD (Astro Ch 232), which carry the latest movie titles, drama series and reality shows. Both Colors and Zee are available on the Samrat Pack.
In a press statement, Astro’s senior vice president (Indian Customer Business) Dr Rajamani Chellamuthu, said: “We are pleased to usher in this year’s Deepavali celebrations by offering the best in content to our customers … We hope that with the new content available on the Samrat Pack, our customers will have the opportunity to access even more titles and movies for a greater range of Tamil and Hindi entertainment.”

Among the programmes viewers can look forward to on Nov 6 include the action thriller Mersal on Vellithirai (Astro Ch 202), headlined by Vijay, playing three different roles; a special on Vaanavil (Astro Ch 201) titled Arun Vijayudan Deepavali Kondattam which features popular actor Arun Vijay and playback singers Anuradha Sriram and Ranjith; and also a Rajinikanth flick, Kaala, available on Vinmeen HD (Astro Ch 231).
Early this month, the director and cast of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai celebrated the film’s 20th anniversary in Mumbai, India. Why not mark that occasion by watching this classic romance starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol via Tara HD (Astro Ch 108) while in festivity mood on Nov 6.
Meanwhile, Raaga has produced a five-episode radio drama for the first time. Each episode airs between 10am and 1pm, Monday to Friday from Oct 29 during the Hello Nanba segment.
