Does anyone even remember what happened in 2014’s Godzilla?
Not only was that American film forgettable but since then we’ve watched the excellent Netflix’s anime films Godzilla: Planet Of The Monsters (2017) and this year’s Godzilla: City On The Edge Of Battle which have upped the storytelling style of this genre even more.
In short, the next chapter in the “MonsterVerse” titled Godzilla: The King Of Monsters has a lot to live up to. Fortunately, director Michael Dougherty (Krampus) is pitting Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history here, which sounds exciting.
All kinds of ancient super-species – thought to be myths – have emerged from somewhere to terrorise humans. A crypto-zoological agency called Monarch battles them with no clue of how to win. There is Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and the three-headed King Ghidorah.
Can the humans really do anything but go extinct at this point? Starring Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler and Millie Bobby Brown (in her feature film debut).
Godzilla: King Of The Monsters is scheduled to open at cinemas nationwide on May 30, 2019.
