Malaysian indie group The Venopian Solitude will play at various music festivals across Europe next month. The homegrown band’s first stop is Denmark on June 9, followed by Spain, The Netherlands, England and Sweden. The tour ends in Germany on June 28.
The live shows will give the group, led by singer-songwriter Takahara Suiko, significant exposure as festivals like Sonar Barcelona in Spain and Fusion Festival in Germany have in the past attracted 120,000 and 70,000 music lovers respectively.
The Venopian Solitude’s debut album, Hikayat Perawan Majnun, was nominated in three categories at the 2014 Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM), Malaysia’s equivalent of the Grammys. In 2016, Suiko’s collaboration with rapper Altimet, Janji, won the AIM for Best Hip Hop Song.
