Local Chinese radio station 988 will be releasing its first full-length feature film A House Of Happiness to China in June in conjunction with Father’s Day. Originally released in Cantonese, the movie will be dubbed in Mandarin and retitled This Crazy Year for the mainland audience.

Scripted by Ryon Lee and helmed by new director JY Teng, the heartwarming family comedy was released in Malaysia on Feb 15. It opened in 88 cinemas, and has collected a total of RM2.18mil after one month.

The cast is led by veteran Hong Kong actor Richard Ng, and Ipoh-born Hong Kong-based actress Mimi Chu, who play an old couple living in a small town.

Supporting acts include Malaysian actors Louisa Chong, Steve Yap, Lim Ching Miau, Thian Siew Kim, Ong Tee Chuan, and 988 deejays Cheryl Lee, Hau Min, Danny One, Sam Mak, Anson Kow, Jason Poon, Cassey Soo, Cynthia Tan, Sean Lee and Piao Min.

988 conducted the final theatrical screening for the movie in Malaysia on Mar 24, along with a special charity luncheon for 71 children and senior citizens from Persatuan Kebajikan Dan Sosial Kim Loo Ting KL, House Of Joy, and Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Chan.

Chan Fong, the 988 deejay who  also produced and acted in the film, said during the event that the film’s success has prompted the radio station and the filmmakers to start working on their second festive flick.

988 general manager Timmund Lim also thanked the audience for their support and attributed the success of the movie on the commitment of the actors and production team.

Fans who missed seeing the popular 988 deejays on the silver screen can now stream A House Of Happiness on a dimsum.my, as the movie will be available on the video streaming service starting March 29. It will also be made available on Fox TV in Taiwan and Pop TV in Hong Kong. 

A House Of Happiness is jointly presented by Be World Class Management, HK Media and 988, produced by Lomo Pictures Sdn Bhd and sponsored by Gamuda Land, Bee Cheng Hiang and Cuckoo.

Project X

988 has embarked on a new campaign titled Project X. 988 listeners can participate in various games and stand a chance to win cash and prizes such as iPhone X, travel packages, dimsum subscriptions and TGV Indulge movie packages. There will be a total of RM100,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.

The 988 X Box is a mystery box that will allow participants to win either cash or prizes, including limited 988 X Passes that will admit listeners to the 988 X Party on April 8. The 988 X Challenge will culminate in a final food fight battle between two teams of deejays – Super X and Wonder X – on April 9.

Fans can also look forward to interact with their favourite deejays during a special roadshow event at Sunway Velocity Mall from April 6 to 8.
