Local Chinese-language radio station 988 has announced a new line-up for six of its weekday shows, starting Mar 12.
The radio station also introduced a new deejay, DJ Brandon Chew, and announced the departure of two long-time 988 deejays – Sam Mak and Anson Kow. DJ Sam had been a 988 announcer for 16 years, and DJ Anson for 11 years. Both hosted their last 988 live show on Friday (Mar 3).
The new line-up kicks off with a brand new youth-oriented lunch-hour show titled Fun Luncheon (weekdays, 1pm to 4pm) hosted by 988’s latest addition, DJ Brandon. The three-hour show will deal with current issues that youth of today are facing.
With Sam and Anson leaving 988, Chan Fong will now be hosting 988’s breakfast show Morning Up (weekdays, 6am to 10am) with Denise Chua and Jason Poon (who has been hosting Count You In with Cheryl Lee).
According to a radio listenership survey conducted by market research company GfK last year, Morning Up is the most engaging breakfast show with the highest Time Spent Listening (TSL) among all Chinese language radio stations.
Meanwhile, Stand By You (weekdays, 10am to 1pm), will see Cassey Soo and Fish Poh taking over from Danny One and Hau Min, who will instead be joining Cheryl Lee to co-host Count You In (weekdays, 4pm to 7.30pm).
Late night shows on weekdays – 988 Moonlight Fun (Mondays to Thursdays, 8pm to 10pm) by Chloe Low; Night Chat (Mondays to Thursdays, 10pm to 1am) by DJ PM; PS Friday (Fridays, 8pm to 10pm) by Sean Lee; City Heartbeat (Fridays, 10pm to 1am) by Chan Fong – will remain the same.
