Malaysian actor Azmil Mustapha, best known for movies like Mekanik (1983) and Ali Setan (1985), passed away today (Wednesday, Feb 14) at age 65 at 12.40pm. It was confirmed by his brother Aziph Mustapha in a statement.

Star Media Group’s Malay language portal MStar reported that he died at his home in Seksyen 9, Shah Alam, Selangor; and the family members were unable to wake him up from sleep.

Azmil had been in and out of hospitals due to difficulty in breathing. He was last seen onscreen in 2004, in a cameo role in Puteri Gunung Ledang. He had retired from showbusiness to concerntrate on religious studies.

Azmil’s body will be brought to Masjid Sultan Salahudin Abdul Aziz Shah Alam (Masjid Biru) for funeral rites before he’s buried at the Islamic cemetery in Seksyen 21 in Shah Alam.

He is survived by two ex-wives and five children.
