South Korean actor Kim Joo Hyuk, 45, has died in a traffic accident, according to local media reports citing the police.
The accident happened around 4.30pm (Korea time) in the upscale Gangnam district.
Kim was driving alone in a black Mercedes-Benz sports utility vehicle when he hit a car in front of him.
His SUV then crashed into a nearby apartment building and plunged down a flight of stairs, landing on its right side before catching fire.
The actor was rescued by firefighters and sent to Konkuk University Medical Centre, but eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Kim is best known for TV dramas including Lovers In Prague and was once a regular member on the popular variety show 2 Days & 1 Night. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
