The 89th Annual Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, is currently happening at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel is the host of this year’s ceremony – let’s hope he does a good job.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, the firm that has been responsible for counting Oscar ballots for over 80 years, has released an official statement, claiming their big blunder.

NO, WAIT THIS IS A MISTAKE MOONLIGHT IS THE WINNER!

Here’s what happened: Warren Beatty was handed the wrong envelope, which was actually for the Best Actress Category (won by Emma Stone of La La Land). Then he let Faye Dunaway read it … Oops. It’s OK, Warren and Faye, it’s late in Hollywood, we get it. #tired

WINNER: Emma Stone wins Best Actress for her role in La La Land.

TRIVIA: Emma Stone joins Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand and Liza Minelli in the league of lead actresses in a musical who have won an Oscar.

12.50pm (Malaysia)

WINNER: Casey Affleck wins Best Actor for his role in Manchester By The Sea.

TRIVIA: Casey Affleck did not win the Screen Actors’ Guild award for Best Actor this year (it went to Denzel Washington instead). This is the first time in 12 years that an SAG Best Actor winner did not win an Oscar.

WINNER: Damien Chazelle wins Best Director for La La Land.

TRIVIA: Damien Chazelle is 32 years old. With his win, Chazelle dethrones Norman Taurog as the youngest winner in the Best Director category. Taurog won in the year 1931!
