Get ready for another round of LOLs, LMAOs and ROTFLs when the Canadian jokester stops by KL in April 2015.
Malaysian Russell Peters fans get an early Christmas present with today’s announcement that the Canadian comedian will be making a stop in KL next year as part of his The Russell Peters Almost Famous World Tour.
According to a press release by event organiser LOL Events Sdn Bhd, the comedy gig will be held on April 10, 2015, at Stadium Melawati, Shah Alam. Ticketing details will be announced soon.
This will be Peters’ second performance in Malaysia. He made history on his first visit in 2012, as part of his Notorious World Tour, when he sold out 16,000 tickets for two shows – a feat no other comedian has ever achieved here.
For the new show, Peters promises all-new material, lightning fast comedy, and audience interaction. “I like to interact with the front rows,” Peters is quoted as saying in the press release.
“I use the interaction to take me from bit to bit. Some guys go on-stage with a script and don’t deviate from it. That’s not my style. I have my set and know what I want to cover; I just use the audience to move me in certain directions. It’s very collaborative and each show is unique,” says Peters.
In other words, it means the lucky people sitting in the front row should be prepared for personal lashings of Peters’ wicked sense of humour.
In addition to Russell’s brand of stand-up, the show will also feature Russell’s official tour DJs – DJ Starting from Scratch (Toronto) and DJ Spinbad (New York).
And in case you’re worried you might not be able to see Peters because you’re sitting a million miles from the stage, LOL Events assure fans that video cameras and huge LED screens will be set up so that the show will have an intimate feel despite its arena setting.
More than famous
A regular presence on Forbes list of the Top 10 Highest Earning Comics in the US since 2009, Peters has spent the past 25 years building a career to become one of the biggest names in the world of stand-up.
He’s also a tireless performer. During his Notorious World Tour alone, he performed to more than 300,000 fans in over 200 performances held in 26 countries around the globe.
Likewise,The Almost Famous World Tour will see Peters globetrotting from venue to venue across the world, including New York’s Madison Square Garden as well as Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre in November and December. In February and March 2015, Peters heads south to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. More international dates are expected to be announced soon.
