Inspired by an Indonesian hotel’s laundry bag which she received five years ago, Law Hong Mei – founder of The Olive Tree – decided to develop a more meaningful gift packaging for her brand this Christmas.
The Olive Tree is a Malaysian brand of plant-based products made in Australia which Law created in 2015 to help relieve her children’ eczema problems.
“Instead of throwing away paper gift packaging, we wanted to make a difference this Christmas by gifting without unnecessary packaging,” says Law in a press statement.
The Olive Tree Cotton Bag with a black floral print comes with a drawstring and is designed to be lightweight, versatile and portable.
“You may use it as a toiletry bag, laundry bag, gym bag, shoe bag or grocery bag. There are just so many ways to use the cotton bag due to its versatility,” she says.
During the Christmas period, they will be giving away The Olive Tree Large Cotton Bag with every purchase of RM150 worth of products in a single receipt, while The Olive Tree Small Cotton Bag is free with every purchase of RM50 of products in a single receipt.
Special events will also be organised at their stores at 1 Utama Shopping Centre and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur offering personalisation services. Spend RM300 and above and you will get to personalise your name on The Olive Tree Cotton Bag.
Law says they are also encouraging customers to reuse the cotton bag when they shop with them through the Bring Your Own Cotton Bag reward programme where customers will be rewarded with a RM1 cash rebate.
“Our ultimate goal is to provide refill services at our stores where customers can bring their own bottles to refill any liquid products.
“We will be starting this service at a Zero Waste community center called The Hive Bulk Foods at Bangsar where the Zero Waste community can purchase their food and essential items by bringing their own bottles or packaging,” Law says.
