For those who revel in the season of summer, it’s time to go all out with celebrations this year as Asia’s World City – Hong Kong – is throwing a fabulous summer party for its visitors. Hong Kong is inviting everyone and anyone to join in on an array of activities and entertainment lined up for visitors.
The ICBC (Asia) e-Sports And Music Festival will include two crowd-pullers, an international e-Sports tournament, and an SMTown concert featuring some of the most popular K-pop stars currently.
Apart from these two mega events, there are also spectacular light shows to be witnessed, as well as promotions from participating merchants.
e-Sports tournament: The Return Of The Legends (Aug 4 and 6)
For those who are into the gaming scene, come witness the competitive side of e-Sports, specifically League Of Legends (also known by the acronym LOL), one of the more popular e-Sports games taking the world by storm with a following of over 16 million globally.
This year’s The Return Of The Legends features world-renowned players with a number of past tournament accolades under their belts. These representatives – who come from as far as North America, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, China and Europe – will be converging in Hong Kong this summer in a virtual battlefield to vie for the glory of being the best of the best.
The semifinals of this championship will take place on Aug 4 and 6 at 10am, while the final showdown will be on Aug 6 at 7pm. There will also be a Festival Zone going on where gaming enthusiasts can meet and greet the LOL champion gamers and participate in cosplay.
There will also be several food trucks touting Hong Kong’s local dishes to whet your appetite at the festival.
Tickets for the tournament are priced from HK$80-HK$480, while the Festival Zone entry is priced at HK$10.
SMTown Special Stage in Hong Kong (Aug 5, 8pm)
Riding the wave of Korean pop culture to Hong Kong’s shores, the renowned SMTown will stage its first-ever concert in Hong Kong, featuring some of the most popular K-pop groups and artistes including D&E (Super Junior), EXO, Luna from f(x), NCT 127, NCT Dream, Red Velvet, SHINee and Yesung (Super Junior).
A key player in Korea’s entertainment industry, SM Entertainment is responsible for countless of successful and popular K-pop artistes, and hit after hit contributing significantly to the global K-pop phenomenon.

Hong Kong Pulse Light Show (Aug 11-Sept 2)
Be mesmerised by an extraordinary and spectacular show of light and sound at the Hong Kong Pulse Light Show 2017.
The show will feature diverse lighting effects that dance to a selection of music, turning the iconic facades of Hong Kong into a canvas of light. The light show will use 3D projection mapping technology to create visuals that will leave you breathless.
A handy tip: get your picture-taking gear ready as the Hong Kong Pulse Light Show illuminates the city’s best angles, such as the iconic Hong Kong Cultural Centre building, and the Clock Tower overlooking Victoria Harbour.
Catch the showcase at 8.20pm, 8.40pm, 9pm, 9.20pm, and 9.40pm daily from Aug 11-Sept 2, 2017. Admission is free.
