CBS unveiled the title of its spinoff of The Good Wife the same day that production on the show began in New York. The new series will be known as The Good Fight.

Set to stream exclusively on CBS All Access after its first episode debuts on CBS, the series will pick up one year after the end of The Good Wife. After an enormous financial scam destroys the reputation of young lawyer Maia and wipes out the savings of her mentor Diane Lockhart, the two are forced out of Lockhart & Lee and join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.

Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo will reprise their roles as Diane Lockhart and Lucca Quinn from the original series. They will be joined in the cast by Rose Leslie, Delroy Lindo, Sarah Steele, Paul Guilfoyle, Bernadette Peters and Erica Tazel. The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King will executive produce.

The Good Fight is set to premiere in February and will be the first original scripted series on CBS All Access. The series had initially been slated for a May launch, but was moved up after production delays forced CBS to postpone the premiere of another new series, Star Trek: Discovery. That show had originally been planned as All Access’ first scripted original.

Star Trek: Discovery has since undergone a showrunner change, with Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts taking over responsibility for day-to-day production and writer-director Akiva Goldsman joining in a top creative role.

Phil Alden Robinson co-wrote and will executive produce the premiere episode of The Good Fight with the Kings. Also serving as executive producers are Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Liz Glotzer, Brooke Kennedy and Alison Cross.
